Clearing eLearning Tracking Data

Tracking data ensures seamless progress tracking between launches for users engaging with eLearning content.

This article outlines the process of clearing tracking data for users in progress and its implications for users and administrators.

When to Clear Tracking Data

For FTP/URL configured content, it is recommended to clear open tracking data every time the content undergoes significant updates. This practice helps prevent tracking issues caused by incompatible tracking data.

How to Clear Tracking Data

  1. Navigate to the eLearning Settings tab of the module that needs its tracking data cleared.

  2. At the bottom of the page, click Clear tracking data for users in progress and review the number of users you are clearing tracking data for.

The number of users displayed here is the number of unique users who have open tracking data on any version of this module, including inactive and report excluded users.

This includes open tracking data from users who were in progress but no longer have a Curriculum Assignment. These users may not appear in reports.

Effects of Clearing Tracking Data

Clearing tracking data will have the following effects for users and administrators:

User Progress:

Users with open tracking data will be required to start the content over from the beginning upon their next launch.

Module Status:

The module will remain "In Progress" on users' Development Plans until they complete the content.

Assignment:

The user’s assignment will not be modified.

Total Time (ALMS):

The total time spent by users on the learning module, as reflected in the
Assigned Learning Module Status Report, will not be affected by clearing tracking data.
