How to Add a Learning Module

The process outlined on this page applies to Cognition version 9.2.0 and later.

To view the process on versions prior to 9.2.0, see [Pre-9.2.0] How to Add a Learning Module.

Access the Add Learning Module page

To add a new Learning Module, start by clicking on the Learning Modules link located in the Learning menu under the Content header.

On this page, click the Add New button in the top-right.

Select the Learning Module type

Select the type of Learning Module to be added.

For more information on each module type’s workflow, see Workflows / Module Types.

Enter Learning Module information

Enter basic information about the Learning Module being added into the listed fields, such as the Code, Name, Category, Estimated Duration, etc. Bolded fields are required.

Having trouble? See What should I enter for code, name, and description?

Review the fields then click the Add Learning Module button at the bottom of the page.

Required Post-Add Configuration

Before this module can taken by students, there are settings that must be configured in the specified module type’s Settings tab (i.e. eLearning Settings, etc).

If a module is assigned before being properly configured, students will not be able to launch the training.

The required settings will be noted in the yellow banner at the top of the specified module type’s Settings tab.

It is highly recommended that the Assignment and Publishing tabs are reviewed before assigning the newly created module. Assignment settings include how many days students have to complete the module and if retakes are allowed. Publishing settings include who can see this module in the catalog and whether it can be added as an elective.
