How to Add a Learning Module

The process outlined on this page applies to Cognition version 9.2.0 and later.

Access the Add Learning Module page

To add a new Learning Module, start by clicking on the Learning Modules link located in the Learning menu under the Content header.

On this page, click the Add New button in the top-right.

Select the Learning Module type

Select the type of Learning Module to be added.

For more information on each module type’s workflow, see Module Types & Workflows.

If you are configuring an eLearning package…

If the eLearning (Upload to Content Cloud) option is available, we recommend selecting this option to make use of the latest simplified workflow. See Content Cloud.

eLearning (FTP/URL) (or simply eLearning if you do not have the Content Cloud license) is an option if you wish to configure content that exists outside of the system such as on an FTP server. This option can also be used to configure an external web page as an eLearning using the Complete on Launch launch type.

Upload an eLearning to Content Cloud

Upload File

Drop your file onto the upload panel or click on the panel to browse and select your package.

eLearning packages must be a .zip file and may utilize one of the following launch types: SCORM 2004, SCORM 1.2, AICC, xAPI or cmi5. Your file will be validated to ensure that your eLearning package is configured correctly.

MP4 videos, PDFs and MP3 audio files can also be uploaded. See Content Cloud Media file support.

Administrator Notes can be added in the Notes field. These notes will only be visible to other Administrators.

When a valid file has been uploaded and you are ready to continue, click the Confirm button.

Enter Learning Module information

Enter basic information about the Learning Module being added into the listed fields, such as the Code, Name, Category, Estimated Duration, etc. Bolded fields are required.

Review the fields then click the Finish button at the bottom of the page.

It is highly recommended that the Assignment and Publishing tabs are reviewed before assigning the newly created module. Assignment settings include how many days students have to complete the module and if retakes are allowed. Publishing settings include who can see this module in the catalog and whether it can be added as an elective.

 


Add all other Learning Module types

Enter Learning Module information

Review the fields then click the Add Learning Module button at the bottom of the page.

Required Post-Add Configuration

The required settings will be noted in the yellow banner at the top of the specified module type’s Settings tab:
