Email Notifications Branding
Available as of Cognition version 9.5.0.
Email notifications from the system can be branded with your logo and style guide using header and footer images. Here’s how an email looks with the default Cognition branding:
Here we have a banner image in the header and a simple bar image in the footer. Out of the box, you can enable this branding globally for all emails that come from the system or add your own custom branding.
Custom branding
You have the option to do custom branding specific to your organization, in the header and/or footer of your emails.
Global or by division
You can have one branding setting that applies to all emails, or if your organization has multiple divisions, you can have branding specific to each division.
Formatted text
In addition to images, you can also include text with basic text styling. This is most commonly useful in the footer, where you may want to include support contact information or a link.
Choosing a suitable image
Here are some tips for making sure your email images end up looking good:
For a full width banner or bar, images should have a width of 600 px.
To make sure the image is sharp, try to use a format with lossless compression, such as PNG.
Ideally the image should look good whether the recipient uses light mode or dark mode in their email client.
One thing to keep in mind is that this branding will be applied to all emails including notifications for Learning, Progressive Development, Talent Management, and Performance Management. Email headers and footers should be appropriate for all emails and not specific to any one feature.

Testing out your emails
When you’re ready, we’ll send you some test emails to the email addresses of your choosing so you can make sure everything looks polished. Here are some things you may want to look out for:
Make sure the emails don’t get filtered as spam.
Check that the images in the emails download and display correctly.
If your users access emails in a particular client or in a specific environment, if possible it would be best to check the emails in that context.
Benefits of email branding
Using images in your emails can help draw attention to notifications and alerts and provide a more cohesive user experience. And from a security standpoint, it also helps the user tell the difference between an email from the system and an unsolicited spam email.
