Markdown Formatting Guide
Certain text fields allow the formatting of text using Markdown. Look for the Markdown button next to the text field to know which fields allow Markdown. And to bring up a Markdown guide or preview your formatted text.
Making a Header
To make a header, put a number sign (#) in front of the text you want to be your header. The fewer number signs that you place in front, the larger the header will be. Example:
Making a Hyperlink
When making a hyperlink, put the text that will display as the link in brackets, followed by the URL that the link will go to in parentheses, with no space between. Example:
Making Text in Italics and Bold
To make text in Italics, put an asterisk (*) on either side of the text that you want to be italicized OR an underscore on either end of the text you want to italicize. Example:
To make text bold, do the same, but with two asterisks or underscores. Example:
Making Items in a Numbered List
When making a numbered list, each item must have a number and a period, then a space, and then the text. When making indented items, you cannot use the Tab key. Instead, type four spaces before you type the number and period. Example:

Making Items in a Bulleted List
It is very similar to making items in a numbered list. Instead of using a number and a period and then a space, you use an asterisk as the bullet when inputting the text and must type a space after the asterisk. Just like in a numbered list, instead of using the Tab key, you must use four spaces in order to get an indented item and must put in a blank line before the list. Example:
Horizontal Rules
To do a horizontal rule, first write the text above the line, then press Enter, then type either three asterisks or three dashes with a space between each, then press Enter again and type the text that will appear below the horizontal rule. Example:
However, you can also use three dashes without the spaces, but make sure to have a blank line beneath before entering more text. A line of text with three dashes on the line directly below it turns into bold text.
Line Breaks
To enter a line break, type two spaces at the end of the first line, then press Enter. Example:
If you want a new paragraph, just press enter twice after typing the first line of text. Example:
