Smart Groups and Report Exclusions
Prior to version 9.4.1, Smart Groups were called Positions.
Â
User Report Exclusions can also be used to exclude users from Smart Groups. This allows for more granular control over Smart Groups including cases where you may not want to include associates who are currently on Leave of Absence. Excluding users who go on Leave of Absence can help you to avoid leaving open assignments that might go past due before an associate returns and instead trigger a new assignment that is made upon their return. You can also use report exclusions to exclude Test Users from your Smart Groups to ensure more accurate assignments, HR Groups, or reporting.
How to Check your System Defaults
To review the current System Level Defaults for Report Exclusion behavior, click on the Cognition Menu in your Enterprise Administrator Role and select Report Exclusions. This will bring you to a page where you can review the current System defaults and see any Smart Groups that are overriding those defaults.
If you’d like to set up a new system-wide rule to remove Report Excluded Users, contact your Cognition Customer Support Specialist. We’ll walk through your desired default setting and be able to modify that on your site.
Modifying Report Exclusion Settings for a Smart Group
To remove Report Excluded Users from a Smart Group, click on the new Report Exclusion tab from the Smart Group administration page.
Then, select Override Settings to choose which Report Excluded Users you would like to remove from the Smart Group.
Users with that Report Exclusion will then be filtered out. You can also choose to uncheck any System level default settings to include those Report Excluded users instead.
Adding Report Exclusions to a User
To manually add a Report Exclusion to a User, you can do so by navigating to User Administration and going to the Report Exclusion tab of the user you’d like to modify. From there you can add an exclusion and specify the Reason and duration for the exclusion.
Report Exclusions can also be automated so that they feed over in User Imports and get automatically applied.
