Landing pages can be used as curated resource pages to display related content and announcements. You could create resource pages for departments, a specific training curriculum, or groups of associates. Landing Pages can also act as custom Login Pages with information that is publicly accessible.

Adding a New Landing Page

Creating a new landing page is pretty simple. First, navigate to the Administration menu and under the “Social” Header select Landing Pages. Press the ‘Add New’ button at the top right, and fill in the following fields:

  • Landing Page Name: Enter in a name that will only be used for administrative purposes to identify the page. This will not show to end-users.

  • Description: This will give administrators information about the purpose for this page and will also be visible to end-users.

  • Administrator Notes: This can be used to make any extra notes for administrative purposes. This will not show to end-users.

  • Header Title: This will show as the title for the page.

  • Header Sub Title: This will show under the main title of the page.

Information Tab

After going through the initial set up of the landing page, you will find that the previously set fields can be updated and there will be additional controls/settings available.

Information

Here you will see many of the original text fields when creating a new Landing Page, along with some new controls.

  • Landing Page URL: The landing page will be accessible via a random generated URL.

    • You can edit the last section of the URL to a more memorable link like “manager-resources”.

  • Show as Collection in Catalog on Dashboard: This will create a Collection that will appear on the Catalog Tab of the Student Dashboard which will take the user directly to this Landing Page.

  • Active: This will determine whether the Landing Page will be Active and accessible to students.

  • Landing Page Access: This will control how the Landing Page will be accessible.

    • Public: any user with the URL to the landing page will have access and will not need to be logged in to view the landing page.

    • Authenticated: users will only have access to view the landing page when they are logged into the LMS.

    • Both (Public & Authenticated): Users can either be logged in or not and still have access to view the landing page.

Public Access

If you choose to have your Landing Page publicly available, it can be used as custom login page that also displays announcements and/or training content that you’d like to be publicly accessible to associates without having to log in.

  • Public Header Title & Sub Title: Allows for custom titles for unauthenticated users while keeping the title separate for logged-in users.

  • Logo Image URL: The default site logo will be used for the landing page, but can be customized to display another logo.

  • Username and Password Label: Allows the change of the login box title from the default value, “Log In.”

  • Enable Collapsible Login Box: Allows the login box to show as an expandable button, rather than showing the full login box on top of the hero image.

  • Login Box Border Color: You can adjust the border color of the login box.

Landing Page Layout

Four central portions make up Landing pages, the Hero Image, the Announcements, the Content Catalog, and the Trending Now list. Each section can be disabled independently of another (besides the Trending Now list), requiring the Catalog to be enabled.

  • Display Hero Image: When enabled, an image appears at the top of the Landing Page. For Hero Image dimensions click here.

  • Intro Text: This can be used to provide context about the Landing Page. The text will appear under the Hero Image.

  • Display Announcements: When enabled, an announcement widget will appear on the Landing Page, allowing users to access announcements.

    • Enable Announcements Auto-Scrolling: The announcement carousel can be adjusted to scroll through announcements with a delay (# of seconds).

  • Enable Catalog: When enabled, a Catalog widget will appear where users can find training content associated with the Landing Page.

    • Display Collections: Specified collections can appear under the Catalog widget on the Landing Page.

    • Collections Section Title: Add a custom title for the Collections section on the Landing Page.

    • Display Trending Modules: A Trending Modules list can appear on the Landing Page

Announcement Tab

The Announcement Tab is where you can organize and add announcements to the Landing Page.

Catalog Tab

The Catalog tab is where you can add Learning Modules to the Landing Page. For Public Landing Pages, there are limitations across the different types of Learning Modules since users are not logged in (authenticated). The learning module limitations for Public Landing Pages are as follows:

  • eLearning - Users can view the course and have the option to redeem credit after completion

  • Video - Users can view the video and have the option to redeem credit after completion

  • Compliance - Users can only view documents - they cannot sign off on the document.

  • On the Job Training/Self Study - Users can only view the form - they cannot submit the form.

On an Authenticated Landing Page when users are logged in to the site, there are no limitations to these learning modules. Content will be added to the users' development plan, and can be completed from there.

For information on completing modules on Public Landing Pages click here.

Collections Tab

The Collections tab automatically shows which Collections are going to display by default on the Landing Page based on the modules available in the Catalog for that Landing Page. You can choose to “Hide” a Collection from the Landing Page if you do not want that tile to show.

Trending Now Tab

The Trending Now tab shows a ranked list of content with the most views in a recent period of time. It automatically shows active announcements and content in the Landing Page’s Catalog. You can select the timeframe for how far it should look back to calculate views (between 1 week and 1 month) and set how many items show at a time.

You also have some manual control of the ranking:

  • If you do not want an item to appear in 'Trending Now', use the drop-down and select 'Never'.

  • If you want an item to always appear at the top, select 'Pinned'. The order of pinned modules and announcements is set by using the text boxes under 'Rank' at the left. Simply enter numbers for all pinned modules and click 'Apply Pinned Order'.

Audience

The Audience tab allows you to filter who can see a Landing Page while logged in. The Audience filter does not affect unauthenticated users for publicly available landing pages and only affects users who are logged in.
