In order to create a PositionSmart Group, navigate to the Administration menu and select Positions Smart Groups.

On this page, you may will select which Position Smart Group type you want (Assignment General or Administrative).

Assignment Position General Smart Group - used to create automatic assignments, cannot , control access to content such as Resource Links and Announcements, and more. Cannot be used to assign roles.

Administrative PositionSmart Group - used to assign roles, cannot create assignments

Once you finish the creation process of a Position, the Position a Smart Group is created, the Smart Group Type can not be changed. The remaining fields may can be edited after creation.

The Include in Student Search Catalog Filters setting controls if students can find all learning modules assigned to this Position Smart Group via the Position Smart Group Filter in Catalog Search.

Step 2 - Filters

On this page, you can select different filters for your positionSmart Group, such as Divisions, Regions/Districts, Job Codes, Locations, Location Types, Users, and Extended User Properties. You will also see any Extended User Properties that your organization has any set up.

In order for a user to be included in a PositionSmart Group, the user must meet the criteria of all of the Position’s Smart Group’s filters.
